Three months of effective communication classes have improved both my writing skills and communication skills. Through activities and projects done in effective communication classes had opened my social circle. Meeting group members from different background and having different input during project discussion allows me to look at things from a different perspective. Before attending effective communication module, I had the mindset that using extravagant words shows better English language. However, through the course I learnt that having the message of the sentence sent across is more important. Some words might not be appropriate in certain context and thus I came to realize that simple words with proper grammar and sentence structuring is the best. This proposal has been developed in response to the request for proposals on developing solutions to an engineering problem. Water demand in Singapore uses approximately 430 million gallons a day. 45% of water usage is consumed by the domestic sector and the non-domestic sector takes up the rest. Singapore’s water supply is obtained from four water sources known as the Four National Taps. The Four National Taps consist of local water catchment, NEWater, desalinated water and Malaysia imported water. Local water catchment, NEWater and desalinated water contribute 40% of the water source, while Malaysia imported water contributes 60% of the water source. These water sources has helped with meeting the increase in water demand. According to Public Utilities Board (PUB) (2018), Singapore’s water demand is expected to double by 2060, with the non-domestic sector using about 70%. Having done badly for O'levels, I entered an engineering course in poly which was never a choice of mine.  I accepted the engineering course just to secure a place in poly to get my diploma. Initially I had the mindset of just getting through each semester as I didn't see a point in doing well and was disappointed with myself. Along the way I met many friends who experienced the same situation as me of entering engine cluster due to our poor result. They were working hard to get good grades even though the course wasn't their ideal choice. It was then I realized, no matter how much I dislike, life goes on. Instead of dwelling on my downfall, I started getting motivations from my surrounding and worked hard to achieve better grades in my 2nd year which made me realized that engineering course was actually where I belong.
